OVERVIEW

Located adjacent to The Menil Collection’s campus, this mass timber office building was proposed as a response to the client’s objective of creating sustainable, mid-scale, mixed-use development in Montrose, Houston. Although the property is located adjacent to a planned light rail, two levels of above-ground parking were required and had to be coordinated with the strict structural logic dictated by mass timber construction. Parking was organized so that the short edges of the building could be dedicated to street-facing retail. A series of terraces stack in section to erode the mass of the building, connect occupants to the park, and introduce greenery on the façade.
